Webinar: «The current state of fact-checking»

Societies across the world are trying to respond to a rapidly spreading deadly virus but also to an “infodemic” of misinformation. Fake news spreads as fast as the actual virus, multiplying its strength and reach. The webinar’s goal is to discuss the issue of disinformation, in light of new developments, including polarization and lies / conspiracies about COVID-19 and to present efforts to counter falsehoods and promote scientific and data based solutions. In this virtual discussion, the Director of the International Fact-Checking Network Baybars Orsek will provide a global perspective, leading to identifying relevant trends.

This event is co-organized by Digital Communication Network (South East Europe HUB) and World Learning and is part of DCNSEE’s Ideas in Action – Digital Engagement, a series of virtual events launched in the context of the COVID-19 crisis.

DCN is supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Citizen Exchanges. Digital Communication Network created in 2015, is a 7.000 member strong collaborative network that connects professionals from a variety of fields and different regions of the world, committed to have an impact in the new information space.
