A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), according to which the two organizations will implement actions in the fields of research, academic education and monitoring of all developments in the journalistic profession.
In an announcement, CyBC states that with the Department of Journalism and Mass Media as the connecting link and Professor of Journalism and Mass Media, Nikos Panagiotidis as the pioneer, the two organizations will implement actions in the fields of research, academic education and monitoring of all developments in the journalistic profession.
As the General Manager of the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, Thanassis Tsakos, and the Rector of the Aristotle University, Professor Dimitris Kavaios, jointly stated, the field of cooperation will include the possibility of internships for journalism students at the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, as well as participation in research programs, such as safety during the coverage of wars and crises.
In addition, the establishment of a center for journalism in the wider Middle East region is planned.
The specific areas of cooperation include:
- Joint research projects on topics related to journalism and media
- Organization of conferences, workshops and seminars on journalistic issues
- Exchange of academic staff and students
- Development of joint educational programs
- Production of joint journalistic content
The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation is a significant step towards strengthening the ties between the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and is expected to contribute to the advancement of journalism and the media in Cyprus and the wider region.
