The topic for the webinar of 28th of April 2020 was “How to make an interconnected world a resilient one” during which Anda Bologa, a lawyer specialized in the field of cybersecurity and cyberspace and a plethora of people discussed with and questioned the experts on issues such as 5G and IoT.

This webinar’s topic was “Distance Education during Lockdowns and Social Distancing”. Speakers from across the world discussed about this new paradigm of education and suggested ways in which the educational system will be bettered with results beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this DCN SE Hub webinar plenty of speakers discussed the ways in which different regimes react to the novel corona virus. The topic of this webinar was “(Un)Democracy and Disinformation-How Autocrats use the “Infodemic”. Diana Filimon, Sandor Lederer and Franak Viacorka were responsible for answering the questions raised from the people watching the webinar.

The U.S. Embassy of Athens organized this webinar, on public health communication and digital resilience during a global pandemic, with DCN SE Hub. This webinar included an interactive discussion between experts and participants to explore best practices in crisis management communications and responsible reporting. The Speakers were Dan Rutz, Gregory W. Pfleger and Nikos Panagiotou.

This webinar was about the changes that the novel corona virus has caused in communication, arts, the entertainment industry etc. During the pandemic of COVID-19 lots of changes have been made such as the rise of communication and streaming apps, digitization of the arts, culture, and entertainment industries, changing consumption habits, etc. Also, the journalistic process has changed in some ways such as the fact-checking process and interactive journalism.

“How Democracies can Cope with a Pandemic: Developing Counternarratives to Disinformation” was the topic of discussion for this specific webinar organized by the International Peace Journalism Laboratory in collaboration with DCN SE Hub. In this webinar speakers discussed ways in which citizens of democratic countries can cope with disinformation and fact-check their sources.

The topic for the webinar of the 31st of March 2020 was “Fake news and disinformation during public health crises – Coronavirus case study”. The speakers of this webinar thoroughly discussed about the disinformation and fake news during this pandemic and generally during public health crises.
3rd-4th of February
In 3rd and 4th of February of 2020 the first event of DCN SE Hub took place, called #IdeasInAction, with speakers Anna Pellegata, Lukas Andriukaitis NS Roman Osadchuk of DFRLab, in collaboration with the Atlantic Councic, aiming to present practices and tools for the fighting of fake news and misinformation.

In the 13th of December 2019 the DCN SE Hub was launched. DCN SOUTHEAST EUROPE HUB is a consortium of Aristotle University, Digital Communication Network, non-profits, public and private organizations and companies, working, or interested to be involved, in the field of digital communication, social impact campaigns, technology, and innovation, with Thessaloniki being the Headquarter. It is a unique initiative, a multi-field coalition, forming a continent-spanning network that will attract a wide range of actors, enabling to tap into the best talent, ideas and resources. The hub is a living entity which connects people and organizations, in a dynamic partnership, ready to adapt to the changing realities in the information space and the emerging needs and challenges of the region.
