Webinar Announcement: “Cultural Organizations During and After COVID 19”

DCN SEE Hub and Digital Communication Network are organizing, via Zoom, the webinar “Cultural Organizations During and After COVID-19“, which will take place in the 30th of June at 18:30 (Athens Time).

The cultural industry among many other economic fields was heavily influenced by the Covid–19 global pandemic. None of the cultural organizations (profit or non profit ones) were able from the early signs or when the pandemic and the lockdown began, to predict or to prepare a crisis management plan. The sector is facing major difficulties in artistic programming, in meeting the new safety standards or how to handle major losses in ticket sales, revenues and fundraising. Some cultural organizations expect to benefit from public support but this not the general rule; especially the more fragile players have limited opportunities for a valid recovery plan.

Covid-19 increased more dramatically the pressure on the cultural sector since in many cases is ineffectively organized with artists and professionals working in temporary contracts or with low standards of business elements in the operation of the sector,

Nevertheless the crisis always raise new opportunities and as an example we can discuss about numerous cultural organizations that went digital during the lockdown (with free content in most of the cases) prepare for the next day. Or how major players like The Met Opera have announced their restart for 2021. Today more than ever, the importance of culture for society is clear therefore the current challenge is to design strategies that overcome the negative impacts in the short term and help the development of the organizations

The webinar will discuss good practices that took place during the lockdown and what kind of elements future strategies should contain.
